The National Independent Electoral Commission has shifted the issuance of the Permanent Voter Cards in Niger State from December 12 to December 19.
This was contained in a statement issued by Israel Ebije, the Chief Press Secretary to the Niger State Governor, Dr. Babangida Aliyu, in Minna on Thursday.
It also confirmed the cancellation of Friday as work-free day for Niger State civil servants.
The statement urged all registered voters in the state not to be deterred by the postponements but to ensure that they come out to receive their cards.
According to the statement, the postponements will further increase awareness for eligible voters to be more prepared for the exercise.
“The PVC collection centres will be strategically designated across the state. People should therefore turnout in their numbers to avoid asking for extension of time if it can be avoided,” it stated.
The statement enjoined those who had not been registered and attained voting age to register during the Continue Voter Registration after the issuance of the PVCs.
It advised people that could not find their PVC to forward genuine complaint to INEC rather than resort to acts capable of undermining the peace.
