The Independent National Electoral Commission in Taraba State has fixed February 22, 2014 for a bye-election to fill the vacant House of Assembly seat for Takum I Constituency.
The seat became vacant following the death of the member representing the constituency, Hon. Haruna Tsokwa, on November 4, 2013.
Until his death, Tsokwa, aged 47, was the Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly.
In a statement issued in Jalingo by the state’s INEC Administrative Secretary, Ahmed Baba, the commission said collection of nomination forms would start on February 8, while deadline for submission was February 15.
“On February 16, 2014, INEC will publish personal particulars of candidates ahead of the elections on Saturday, February 22, 2014,” the statement said.
