Media personality, Toke Makinwa, has revealed how she battled fibroid for seven years.
The video blogger and socialite mentioned on her Instagram page that she had not shot a video log (vlog) in a month for a good reason.
Makinwa said that people should watch her recent video where she shared her battle with fibroid, surgery and her journey to healing.
She said that the video contained how she summoned courage to go for a surgery.
She said: “I have been fighting fibroids for about six years and seven years. I was diagnosed seven years ago and it has been one hell of a ride.
“I finally decided to do something about the situation this year because it was getting to a point where it was beginning to affect me.”
She said that she was always wearing undergarments and waist cinchers to keep bloated stomach from being noticed by the public.
Makinwa said: “I was in a lot of pain, I couldn’t sit up properly. It was beginning to push against certain organs in my body and it was a total disaster.”
She also said that she went through every church service, fasted and prayed to God for a miracle to happen before heading for the surgery.
She concluded: “I had the surgery, it was successful and I’m alive.”
Toke Makinwa is the author of “On becoming”, an autobiography.
