The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has described excellent road network as a prerequisite for economic development.
The governor stated this after an inspection tour of roads under construction and rehabilitation around Abeokuta metropolis.
Amosun said no economic development could take place in any state with dilapidated road network, adding that it was this appreciation that led to his administration’s massive investment in road construction and rehabilitation.
According to the governor: “Our plan is to fix the poor road network in the state and make them motorable. We are building new ones.
“Durability is also a major consideration for the roads we are constructing.
“This is why we have included proper channelisation and drainage system in all our road designs.
“We want to stimulate economic activities and ensure growth and development of the state.”
He thanked the people of state for the confidence reposed in his administration and urged them to continue to play their own part through fulfilling their civic obligations such as payment of tax in accordance with the law and obedience to due process in all their endeavours.
Among the roads inspected were Oke-Saaje Arenlese Road, Amororo-Ago Oba Road and Ibara-Ita Eko-Sokori-Totoro Road.
