The new Minister of Sports and the Chairman, National Sports Commission, Dr. Tamuno Danagogo, has sounded it loud and clear that he won’t concentrate more on the development of football like his predecessors but on the development of all existing sports in the country.
The new Minister told sports journalists in Abuja after resuming duties at the NSC office that he would work with all sport federations equally for the development of all sports in the country.
Danagogo said: “As it is in this part of the world, football is the king, but a tree would not make forest.
“We will try as much as possible to encourage other sports.
“The major problem is the disposition of our people.
“Must of us tend to measure the success of any administration with football.
“That is why every minister or DG that comes wants to give everything to football because if he succeeds in football and fails in other sports, nobody will query him.
“Football has become the yardstick in measuring success, but we would begin to look inward to ensure every other sports are develop.”
