A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has described as total falsehood media report that the National Working Committee has considered and dismissed the Appeal Panel Report on the State Congress, saying the report was orchestrated to mislead the public.
The party’s factional Chairman, Barrister Akin Omole, said in a statement in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday that what the NWC only acted upon was the Congress results, and not the Appeal Panel Report.
He said even from its presentation, it was obvious that the report was false, adding: “The Panel Chairman was Mrs. Romoke Edu Ogunlana and not Iyabo Ogunlana as presented in the media report.”
The statement reads further: “On Tuesday, April 17, a day to the said NWC meeting in Abuja, the National Secretary, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, was in Abeokuta for the burial of his in-law, Dr. Femi Majekodunmi, and he was there till very late. He didn’t come to Abuja till Wednesday evening.
“Therefore, how could Oyinlola, who did not attend a meeting be quoted to have made the comments ascribed to him in the newspaper report?
“We therefore wish to assure our teeming loyal party members that the Appeal Panel Report has not been considered by the NWC and we also have the assurance that justice will be done very soon.”
