Information reaching The Eagle Online has it that some of the accreditation cards for Saturday’s governorship election in Edo State have been stolen from the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Benin City, the state capital.
Specifically, the cards stolen were those meant for the media.
Sources said that the theft was a surprise to the top echelon of the electoral commission as most of the materials meant for the election are under close guard.
It could not be ascertained the steps that would be taken to prevent the usage of the cards by those who stole it.
The election holds on Saturday.
The Chairman of INEC, Prof. Attahiru Jega, was in the state on Tuesday for a stakeholders meeting.
Jega assured participants at the meeting that all was set for the election and that all materials are safe.
