Ebonyi South PDP senatorial ticket: Battle between light and darkness – Nnachi

An aspirant for the Ebonyi South Senatorial District seat on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dr. Onuoha Nnachi, has described the contest for the party’s flag bearer in the zone as a battle between light and darkness.
Onuoha stated this while briefing journalists in Abakaliki on Friday concerning his mission  and convictions for the senatorial post.
He said he represents the new minds, while his contender, Dennis Ekumankama, stood for the old incandescent stock, bereft of ideas.
The aspirant also emphasized that the presence of the incumbent, Sonny Ogbuoji, in the final race does not pose any threat to his ambition.
Assuring that he has the required professional, intellectual and socio-political capacity to knock his opponents out, he noted that he was among the very few persons destined by nature to make impact in the life of people.
Nnachi opined that the successes so far recorded in Ebonyi State stems from the fact that Governor David Umahi was young, vibrant and an experienced entrepreneur.
He pledged to offer an all inclusive representation, institute mentorship programmes for the youths of the district as well as change the total narrative of the senatorial district.
He further stated that being one out of the only two contestants who finally scaled  through the preliminary hurdles to stand for the forthcoming  primaries out of the initial 11 contestants, a fierce contest had just ensued.
Nnachi said: “My emergence was a clear indication that the people’s choice still speaks, the people’s vote still counts.
“It is no longer a race again but but a contest.
“And I want you people to understand that the contest is really fierce.
“It is really a fierce contest that will determine the next dynamics of Ebonyi politics.
“It will redefine who we are, it will redefine what we want.
“For those of us from Ebonyi South, it will redefine what we aspire to be.
“I dare say without any reservation that I am in for the race and for the contest.
“In my own words, I define it as a contest between the young and old.
“I define it as a contest between light and darkness.
“I define it as a contest between the future and the present and I define it as a contest between the past and the present generation.
“A contest that will define where we are going to and where we are from.”
The aspirant submitted that he has the confidence that based on his wide consultations, rich manifesto and antecedents, he would scale through the primaries and even beat the incumbent All Progressives Congress senator to the Nation’s Red Chambers.
He warned that the time was past when slumbering representatives were given the people’s mandate, adding: “A change maker does not slumber.”
Nnachi however, pledged that he would never leave his party, the PDP, peradventure he fails to pick the ticket.
He also pledged to make a donation of N10 million as well as support whoever defeats him to the flag of the party.
A total of 656 delegates, comprising 170 ad-hoc and 485 statutory delegates, are billed to come from Ebonyi State for the PDP forthcoming primary election.
