Nigeria’s opening match with Tahiti is least rated in the ticket allocation for the 16 matches of the Confederation Cup,
While the number of tickets made available for Mexico versus Italy match for instance is put at 69,033, that of Monday’s clash of Tahiti and Nigeria is a laughable 16,714, even though the 48-year-old Estadio Mineiro, venue of the match, has a capacity for 62,547.
When the same stadium will host Japan and Mexico match on June 22, ticket allocation is increased to 40,685.
The possible late arrival of the Nigerian team has further dampened the interests of fans in Belo Horizonte, the city that hosted what is perhaps the biggest upset so far in World Cup history when England surprisingly lost 0-1 to the amateur side, USA, at the 1950 finals.
