Gunmen, suspected to be members of dreaded sect, Boko Haram, late on Thursday unleashed terror on a town in Adamawa State.
The town, Gulak, which is about 200 kilometres from the state capital, Yola, was attacked with guns and explosives.
The main target of the attackers was the police station in Gulak, which was heavily bombarded.
The spokesperson of the Adamawa State Police Command, Nemuel Yoila, confirmed the attack.
Yoila said: “The police station was attacked by a group of gunmen who threw explosives into the police station and opened fire.
“Details are still sketchy.
“So it is still not clear if there were casualties.”
Yoila explained that the building housing the police station was destroyed by the subsequent blaze from the gun attack and explosion.
