Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has praised the leadership style of the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, on the occasion of Tukur’s first 100 days in office.
In a statement issued by his media office in Abuja, the former Vice President noted that Tukur has cut the image of a unifier, peacemaker and bridge-builder at a critical point the party requires his strong leadership.
According to Abubakar, the PDP chairman has kept the faith with the reconciliation policy, aimed at rebuilding the party, which was once torn apart by division and acrimony.
“The passion and sincerity with which Alhaji Bamanga Tukur is trying to introduce a system in the way the party is run is a reflection of his determination to put his wealth of experience at the disposal of the party,” Abubakar said.
The former Vice President commended the revolutionary style of modeling the party after democratic parties like the African National Congress in South Africa where loyalty to the party subsumes allegiance to individuals and groups.
He said these steps by Tukur are promising signs that the chairman is committed to the task of rebuilding the party, restoring discipline and bringing a system in which the party is run.
The Turaki Adamawa wished Tukur more good health to offer more service to Nigeria, PDP and Africa at large.
