The Eagle Online can report that two police officers serving with the Plateau State Police Command were killed at their duty post on Tuesday morning near the University of Jos in Jos North area of the state.
The police officers, whose names and identity were not mentioned as at the time of this report, were an Inspector and a Corporal.
Reports reaching The Eagle Online indicate that the affected officers were said to be guiding a company near the University of Jos on Bauchi Road, where they were targeted and killed by the hoodlums and their rifles carted away.
Confirming this report, the Police Public Relations Officer in Plateau State, Abu Emmanuel, expressed dismay over the development.
Emmanuel said: “It is sad that these officers paid the supreme price while trying to protect you.”
He said, there was no cause for alarm whatsoever.
According to him: “The police are working round the clock to track down the perpetrators and bring them to book.”
