Determined to fulfill its pledge of efficient service delivery in its coverage area, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company has acquired 100 operational motorcycles for the Federal Capital Territory, Kogi, Nasarawa and Niger States.
This was confirmed in a statement on Sunday by the Head of Media of AEDC, Ahmed Shekarau.
The statement showed that the Managing Director of the company, Neil Croucher, has already flagged off the distribution of the motorcycles at the company’s head office in
Abuja.
It explained that the procurement of the bikes was in line with AEDC’s pledge of efficient service delivery in its coverage area.
The CEO, represented by the Executive Director of Commercial Services, Ernest Mupwaya, said the new motorcycles were meant to facilitate speedy response to customers’ complaints, especially in the rural areas.
According to him: “As you are aware, the main objective of the privatisation of the power sector is to ensure improvement in the quality of electricity enjoyed by customers. And you must also note that the customer expectation is quite high.
“We are committed to investing massively in improving the quality of services in our coverage area. It is in line with this commitment that a few months back we procured and
distributed 23 vehicles to your various units.
“The provision of these 100 motorcycles therefore, is in continuation of our drive for excellence in service delivery; and I am delighted by the kind of responses we are getting from our customers on the noticeable improvement in our services.
“We must however, not relent in our efforts to meet customers’ expectations, because they want to see a quick turnaround of the electricity sector in Nigeria. That is why the management is providing these motorcycles to you today, in addition to the 23 vehicles, to ensure that where there are any hitches, you will step in swiftly to attend to our customers.”
While expressing satisfaction with the handling of the distributed vehicles so far, he also used the opportunity to task all staff handed over the motorcycles to ride with care, and deploy them “for the purposes for which they were bought”, adding that the management expects to see corresponding improvement in the quality of services in all areas.
Among sections that received the service motorcycles were the Mararaba, Akwanga, Bida, Bosso, Okene, Kabba, Bwari, Kubwa, Kuje, Lugbe, and Karu business units, across the six regions of the company.
While responding on behalf of the six regions, the Regional Manager, Niger Region, Sulayman Jafiya, thanked the management for the gesture.
Jafiya assured that the motorcycles would be deployed for the intended purposes.
