Vemard Africa Football Club of Enugu on Thursday in Enugu beat visiting Orah United of Owerri 3-1 in a Division 1B fixture of the 2018 Nationwide League One.
Rangers International FC Feeders also played out a goalless draw with Bussdor FC of Nkwere in another NLO fixture, this time a Division 1C game.
Fred Okwara gave Vemard the lead in the 15th minute of their match, but Samuel Ollor equalised for the visitors in 21st minute.
Okwara completed his brace in the match’s 45th minute of the match, while Augustine Charles put the game beyond Orah United with his 90th minute goal.
Rangers Feeders could not put the ball beyond the visiting Bussdor FC in their match played at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.
Speaking after the match, Rangers Feeders’ coach, Basil Obinna, said he was sure his players would improve as the league progresses.
Obinna said: “These are new players we just recruited and this being their second match of the season, our performance is good. It was just that the goal refused to come.
“I think we will get better as the league progresses, because we are finding our rhythm game after game.
“Our aim is to develop players who will take over from the main Rangers players. That is why we went for very young players.’’
