The Enugu State Police Command on Wednesday arraigned one Ikenna Ugwu,
20, of Ugboeke in Igboeze North before an Enugu Magistrates’ Court for
alleged rape.
Ugwu was arrested for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl at Ugboeke
on July 26 and another 17-year-old girl on July 27.
The prosecutor, Emmanuel Ajogwu, told the court that the complainants
could not come to the court because they were hospitalised following
the injury from the rape.
The prosecutor called three witnesses to testify in the case.
The Magistrate, Ngozi Ideani, said the witnesses would testify in the
high court where the Department of Public Prosecution would file the
information on the matter.
Ideani said the accused should be remanded in prison while the case be
transferred to the Attorney-General and adjourned it indefinitely.
