Wife of Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Ibikunle Amosun, on Friday expressed shock at the scene of a multiple accident, which occurred early on Friday morning at the Berger end of the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.
The accident, which involved seven vehicles, including a fully loaded truck with registration number XZ 437 MUS, also affected vehicles such as an 18-seater inter-state commuter bus with plate number XN 547 LSR, Honda Accord (FKJ 645 AG), Volkswagen Golf (DN 504 EKY) and a Toyota Sienna (GR 304 LND) branded by Joint Juice.
Mrs. Amosun, who was travelling along the expressway, arrived at the scene of the accident minutes after its occurrence. At least two persons were confirmed dead in the accident and five seriously injured.
In an emotion-laden voice, Mrs. Amosun said: “I was shocked at the fatality of this accident. This is unfortunate. As a mother, I feel highly concerned. I have got in touch with the emergency response team to quickly come to the rescue of the people at the scene. I sympathise with people involved in the accident. May God continue to protect us.”
The governor’s wife, who saw the trapped bodies of the two people who occupied the front seat of the commuter bus under the truck, described the fatal accident as unfortunate.
