Super Eagles striker, Shola Ameobi, has been told he is going to the World Cup, after one of the best nights of his career.
The veteran striker scored a superb goal and set up another as Nigeria drew 2-2 with Italy in a friendly at Fulham’s Craven Cottage on Monday.
Ameobi has hardly played a competitive game for the Super Eagles since winning his first cap this year.
But Nigeria’s Head Coach, Stephen Keshi, has promised to stick with the squad that won the country’s place in Brazil for next summer.
Keshi said: “This is the fifth or sixth time I’m taking the same team to play a game. Most of them are going to be there (in Brazil), if there’s no injuries. I pray there’s no injuries. ”
Ameobi and his teammates’ performance against the Italians was even more impressive given their lack of preparation.
Keshi revealed: “We flew to Britain right after playing a World Cup qualifying match and played Italy just 48 hours after the game. We did all this without sleeping.”
