Shola Ameobi hailed Notts County’s “fighting” mentality and says it has been the most pleasing aspect of their stunning run of form.
The Magpies made it four wins on the spin last weekend when they came from behind to seal a 2-1 victory in the last five minutes at Carlisle United.
Notts have now lost just four of their last 16 matches, which has seen them climb well clear of the relegation zone in League Two.
And Ameobi says that is down to the battling qualities boss Kevin Nolan has instilled into the team since his appointment back in January.
“We are on a great run and the confidence is really high,” said Ameobi.
“We were unfortunate to go 1-0 down (at Carlisle), but we kept plugging away and the fight in the team is something I am really, really happy about.
“In this game you have to earn the right to win. The manager has instilled the fact that we have to fight first before we have the chance to play.
“Saturday’s game was a testament to that. We never gave up and when you are winning things go your way.
“We are not just winning, we are doing it in the right way. A lot of teams don’t understand that you have to fight.”
Ameobi produced another excellent performance at Brunton Park and is hoping to sign a new deal to remain with the club next season.
