Aluko died in London private hospital in wife's presence

More information has come in on the death of renowned Economist, Prof. Sam Aluko.
Aluko was said to have died at a private hospital in Newscastle, United Kingdom.
His wife was said to have been with him when he died.

Born August 17, 1929 into the Aluko Fagbohun family of Ode Ekiti, Ekiti State, Aluko went to St. Mary’s School, Ode Ekiti between 1936 and 1940 and then attended Emmanuel School, Ado Ekiti and the famous Christ’s School, Ado Ekiti.
He obtained a Second Class Honours in Economics from the University of London.
He was the principal of Zik’s College of Commerce, Sapele and Vice-Principal, Lagos City College.
Aluko was the first Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ife, now called Obafemi Awolowo University.
In 1981, he served on a committee constituted to produce a framework for the Ambrose Ali University Ekpoma in the old Bendel State.
He served in the regime of the late General Sani Abacha as the chairman of the National Economic Intelligence Committee.
He is survived among others by the Vice-Chancellor of the Niger Delta University, Otuoke, Bayelsa State, Prof. Bolaji Aluko; Senator Gbenga Aluko; and a businessman, Olu Aluko.
He would have been 89 in august.
