An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Thursday admitted two security guards standing trial for alleged negligence and theft to N500,000 bail each.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Ibrahim Animasaun, 70, and Ikoi Solar, both of no fixed address, were charged with conspiracy, negligence of duty and stealing.
The Chief Magistrate, S.H Adebisi, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
Adebisi said the sureties must submit evidence of tax payment for the past three consecutive years to the Oyo state.
He thereafter adjourned the matter till May 18, for hearing.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Opeyemi Olagunju, told the court that the defendants allegedly commit the offences on March 28 at 1.15a.m., at Abayomi Estate, Joyce B area, Ibadan.
He said that the defendants negligently failed to take proper care of a Toyota Corolla Sport car with Reg. No. AKD 40 FN.
“The defendants were also alleged to have stolen the vehicle worth N2. 8 million, property of one Femi Kayode ,” said Olagunju.
He said that the offences contravened Section 390 (9) , 343 (1) (G) and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
