A former Governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, on Monday announced his defection from the All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party.
Sheriff, a member of the All Nigeria Peoples Party before the merger of parties to form the APC, had indicated earlier that there were issues unresolved within the new party.
A report monitored on African Independent Television, said Sheriff, who addressed his supporters on Monday at the Maiduguri International Airport in Borno State, pledged his support to President Goodluck Jonathan, who was elected on the platform of the PDP.
He said he would support the aspiration of Jonathan if he decides to seek reelection in 2015.
