President Goodluck Jonathan said dreaded sect, Boko Haram, has transcended its initial ideal of working against the education of citizens, especially women.
Jonathan said Boko Haram, which literally means “Western education is sin”, has gone beyond its conception and transformed into a full terrorist group.
Speaking in Paris, France on Saturday during a meeting of world leaders, including the French President, Francois Hollande, Jonathan said that when Boko Haram was formed, it adhered to its pursuit between 2002 and 2004.
He said the group has teamed up with Al-Qaeda and this is evident in its operations, especially the manner its members abducted the schoolgirls in Chibok, Borno State.
He said with the intervention of the international community, the days of Boko Haram in the country are over.
