Arsenal’s Chuba Akpom is already feeling like he belongs to Brentford.
Still only 18, Akpom went out on his first loan spell this month and found himself named on the bench for Brentford at the weekend.
Coming on as a late substitute against Walsall in the 1-1 draw, the travelling Brentford fans already had a song for him when he arrived on the pitch.
Akpom said: “My main aim has to be to get more game time, get goals and force my way into the team.
“I’m confident I can do that.
“I just want to get goals and if I can’t do that, then help the guys get them to win games.
“It’s as clear as that really.
“I like to use my pace to get behind defences and I did that at Walsall but my cross was just a little too high.
“It would have been nice to have made an instant impact.”
Speaking about his song, he added: “I couldn’t believe it.
“I’d only been on the pitch a few seconds and they already had a song for me.
“That felt brilliant and made me feel really at home.”
Akpom, who is of Nigerian parentage, will serve a month on loan at Brendford but barring any injury catastrophe the deal is likely to be extended.
