Injured Super Eagles’ midfielder, Hope Akpan, will be assessed by Reading FC’s doctors, The Eagle Online has reliably gathered.
Akpan was withdrawn after 51 minutes in Nigeria’s 2-0 victory over Congo on Saturday, after sustaining a shoulder injury.
The midfielder will return to Reading in the coming days where he will then be assessed by the club’s medical staff.
The 23-year-old tweeted about his injury over the weekend.
He said: “Thank you for all the get well soon messages. Dislocated my shoulder in the game against Congo. Thank God it wasn’t anything worse.”
Akpan is unlikely to feature for the Super Eagles when they take on South Africa in African Cup of Nations qualifying on Wednesday.
