The Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, has said that the death of Ambassador Olusegun Olusola is a loss that would take decades for the Nigerian nation to recover from.
Ajimobi stated this in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Festus Adedayo.
According to him, Olusola was not just a cultural icon but represented one of the best exports of Nigeria to the cultural world.
Ajimobi said that the death of Olusola was a rude shock to him as the icon betrayed no sign that he would not help the country weather its present storm.
“But we are rest assured that icons like Olusola do not die; they merely translate positions. With his imperishable footprints on the sand of time, Olusola will continue to live, as long as Nigeria and our culture remain,” Ajimobi said.
The governor urged the family of the late Ethiopian Ambassador not to weep over his death as he will continue to live forever in the minds of culture buffs.
The governor urged the Federal Government to immortalise the memory of the late Village Headmaster creator, saying that this is a way of encouraging Nigerians to invest their all in the country.
While praying for the repose of his soul, Ajimobi said the country would need more patriots like Olusola in the years ahead.
