Coach Abubakar Bala of Kwara United FC of Ilorin says the team is looking beyond Katsina United in the quarter-finals of the 2018 Aiteo Cup scheduled for Wednesday in Lagos.
Bala told the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Lagos that the team’s target was to win the Aiteo Cup for the good people of Kwara.
He said: “I want to surpass my last season’s achievement with Niger Tornadoes in the Aiteo Cup.
“We are working very hard to get to the final again in 2018 and crown our efforts with the trophy.”
Bala, who managed Niger Tornadoes last season, lost on penalties to Akwa United in the final of the 2017 Aiteo Cup in Lagos.
According to him, the team is not afraid of any team in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
He said he was currently working with the best set of players who could face any team, except for Akwa United and Enyimba FC that might pose a threat to his side.
He said: “But we are no longer afraid to face them in the 2018 Aiteo Cup finals.”
Asked about his future with club, Bala, who was not certain about it with the Harmony Boys, said he had good relationship with the management.
He said: “We are working out plans to work together again next season but nothing has been agreed upon yet.
“I still have my mind on some offers; I have some good offers that are mouth-watering.
“A coach is always looking for where and how to progress and where he is going to be comfortable.
“I have not made up my mind on anything yet but I am still thinking about what to do and this is not a priority for me yet.
“I want to get through with the Aiteo Cup and ensure that I succeed.”
NAN reports that Kwara United is leading with 6 points from 3 games at the Lagos Centre in the quarter-final of the 2018 Aiteo Cup.
