Airtel Nigeria says its corporate social responsibility initiative, Airtel Touching lives Season 5, would be aimed at providing succour to the less privileged members of the society.
The Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Nigeria, Segun Ogunsanya, said in a statement on Wednesday that the Season 5 premiere would take place on January 25.
Ogunsanya said that in its fifth year, the event would highlight several social investments by the telecommunication company in support of government’s pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals.
He said such investments cut across infrastructure, healthcare, poverty alleviation and empowerment.
Ogunsanya said Airtel was passionate about promoting corporate philanthropy.
He said the telco would continue to rally important stakeholders across different sectors and geographies to support the weak and underprivileged persons across society.
He said: “Airtel Nigeria is inspired to promote corporate philanthropy and sustainability.
“Our ‘Touching Lives’ platform affords us an opportunity to showcase our efforts through the years.
“It also seeks to encourage other entities and well-spirited individuals to join hands in improving our society.”
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Airtel Touching Lives is an inspiring corporate social responsibility initiative that seeks to offer practical relief, succour, hope and opportunities.
It has platforms created to liberate and empower the underprivileged, disadvantaged and hard-to-reach persons in the society.
Ogunsanya said the ATL was a Corporate Social Responsibility created with a view to promoting the spirit of giving, self-sacrifice and love among Nigerians.
He said since the initiative was launched, it had achieved remarkable successes, having restored hope of despaired individuals and families.
He added that it had saved many from the throes of death and empowered many underprivileged Nigerians.
He said the company was expecting the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to join his Nigerian counterpart, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, as Special Guests of Honour at the premiere of ATL Season 5.
Ogunsanya said the event would also be attended by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and other top government officials, captains of industry and top media executives.
