A Toyota Camry on Thursday crushed a motor boy to death as the heavy duty truck he was attached to fell at Onipanu Bus Stop along Ikorodu Road, Lagos.
The Camry, with registration number BDG 981 DP, coming behind in high speed, was said to have rammed into the truck, killing the motor boy.
Kehinde Adebayo, the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, confirmed the incident, saying the drivers of both the Toyota Camry and the truck escaped unhurt.
Adebayo said the agency mobilized to the scene as soon as they were informed, assuring that proper investigation would be conducted on the incident.
He also advised motorists to adhere to all traffic rules and regulations to avoid a reoccurrence.
He said: “The agency received an alert via the emergency number 112/767 regarding a fallen container truck with registration number GGE 756 XK on ikorodu road, Onipanu bus stop inward Palm Groove.
“This prompted the immediate response of the Agency’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) to the scene of the incident, according to information gathered at the scene of the accident, it was revealed that the container driver lost control and tumbled.
“It ended up blocking the entire expressway, while the Toyota Camry with registration number BDG 981 DP coming behind rammed into the truck killing the suspected truck motor boy (male adult), while the driver of the Toyota Camry escaped without any injury.
“The trapped dead body was extricated by the LASEMA Response Team and has been taken by officials of the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SEHMU) to the Mainland Hospital Mortuary. Also, the agency’s heavy-duty truck was used to evacuate the accident vehicles off the road to allow free flow of vehicular movement.
“The agencies at the scene include Lagos State Ambulance (LASAMBUS), LASTMA, Lagos State Fire Service, the police and the FRSC.”
