Afrobaskets 2017: D’Tigress out dunks DR Congo, faces Egypt test
Nigeria’s senior women basketball team, D’Tigress, coasted to a 84-47 points win over their Democratic Republic of Congo opponents in the second group game on Saturday at the ongoing Afrobabasket for Women in Bamako, Mali.
The Sam Vincent side opened the first quarter with 23-7 points, while the Congolese fought back in the second quarter as they attempted to snatch the lead, but the Nigerian side were resolute to end the quarter by 18-22 points.
On resumption for the third and final quarters, the D’Tigress retained their superiority as they led by 11-8 points and 32-9 points to secure their second victory of the group.
The Nigerian girls recorded an emphatic 80 points to 69 points win over familiar foes, Mozambique, in their first group game on Friday.
The D’Tigress will square up with north Africa giants, Egypt, on Sunday.
