Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State said that the decade-old security challenges had crippled socio-economic activities in the state.
The Governor disclosed this at the Armed Forces Remembrance Day ceremony, which held in Gusau on Sunday.
He added that farming and other agribusinesses had suffered setbacks.
Matawalle said: “Education also remains backward as many primary and secondary schools were forced to shutdown due to the activities of bandits.”
He commended the efforts of the security agencies in the state and urged them to be more proactive in tackling the recurring security issues in the state.
Matawalle reiterated the commitment of his government in giving all the necessary support to the Army and all the other security formations to ensure the return of normalcy to the state.
While condoling the families of the fallen heroes, he stressed the need for the public to assist security operatives with useful information to enable them root out all forms of crimes bothering the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the event witnessed special prayers, 21-gun salute and presentation of flowers as symbol of respect to the fallen heroes.
