A former international and ex-General Manager of Shooting Stars sports Club, Nathaniel Adewole, has said that the victory of the Super Eagles at the Africa Cup of Nations has only one major message for the country: leave Nigerian football to its footballers.
Adeowle, in an email message to The Eagle Online, said that the Head Coach of the Super Eagles, Stephen Keshi, has proven that if the country’s football is left to Nigerian footballers to manage, the sky can only be the limit.
The email message reads in full: “Yes, whether people accept it or not, what Keshi has established with his Nations Cup magic is to LOUDLY tell all those ever-growing number of impostors, gate-crashers, dollar-diggers, road-side analysts, politician-turned soccer administrators etc who have taken over the center-stage of country’s soccer for some thirty years now to leave our game for we the practitioners/
“And, of course, by extension, proven to all Nigerians that the country can still attain her full potential in all areas of our national life – development of the economy, law, industry, music, sports, politics, security etc – ONLY IF the mouth of the society will not be taking over the job of the arms, the eyes taking over the job of the stomach, the nose taking over the job of the mouth and the legs trampling the brains under and taking over their leadership roles for some temporary, selfish reasons.
“Like l always tell people, your can never give what you do not have. And l don’t think anyone requires any rock science intelligence to see why in our bodily activities, for example, all the parts (rather than usurp or hijack each other’s natural role for stupid, selfish reasons like we mostly do in this country) selfishly, conscientiously and complementarily apply their individual talent and endowment for the overall good of the whole body.
“But, are we Nigerians ready to let that natural and divine message as proven by Keshi sink – for the good of all?”
