Worried by the decadence in the country, an Ibadan, Oyo State-based Islamic leader, Alhaji (Omooba) Rasheed Adesokan, will on Sunday deliver a public lecture in Ibadan aimed at mentoring the youths towards having a role model.
A statement by Alhaji Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the Chairman of Bodija Muslim Youth Forum, said the lecture by Baale of Bodija Community will hold at the Bodija Islamic Centre, Housing, Ibadan from 11am.
Adesokan, who is the Balogun Mumini of Yorubaland, will speak on: “Muslim Youth of Today, Choosing Role Models and Modelling their Roles.”
The Islamic leader, who is also the Director-General of Centre for Islamic Information and Youth Development, said there was urgent need to refocus the youth of nowadays to have a role model in the contemporary times.

Speaking on the rationale for the topic, Balogun said the society has corrupted the youth to the extent that only those who have made money without any recourse to their source of wealth are the role models for the youth.
“This is dangerous for a country with over 40 per cent of youth population and for the future of the country, if indeed that the youth of today are the future of tomorrow,” he said.
Expected at the first of its kind lecture are the youth and elders of the Bodija Community as well as youth organizations within Ibadan metropolis.
