Some prominent Nigerians have been listed as members of the National Committee on Flood Relief and Rehabilitation.
The committee, which is to raise funds in support of the Federal Government’s efforts to provide urgent relief for victims of recent floods across the country, was made public by President Goodluck Jonathan in his nationwide broadcast on Tuesday morning.
Among those to serve in the committee, according to a statement by presidential spokesman, Dr. Reuben Abati, are business mogul and Chairman of Globacom, Dr. Mike Adenuga; prominent businessman, Aliko Dangote; and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and constitutional lawyer, Olisa Agbakoba.
Abati said the committee has been mandated to raise funds to complement government’s resources for the provision of relief to flood victims across the country and the post-impact rehabilitation of affected persons and communities.
