Tottenham striker, Emmanuel Sheyi Adebayor, has announced his decision to quit Hawks of Togo ahead of the 2013 African Cup of Nations.
In a statement released by his Communications Officer, Amedodji Blaise, in Lome, revealed that ‘he is suspending his international career with the Togo national team, otherwise known as the hawks, for now.
Adebayor blasted also the Togo Federation officials for misappropriating players’ €35,000.
He claimed that the money was meant for players’ bonus but the FA claimed to have use all the money to settle players’ ticket, hotel bills and other expenses incurred on the November 14, 2012 International friendly against the Atlas of Morocco, which Adebayor captained the team to a 1-0 victory.
The disputed money was paid to the Togolese FA by the Moroccan FA as the participation fee.
