The Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Aare Gani Adams, has described Afenifere leader, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, as a product of strong, progressive leaning.
Aare Adams said this at St. Philips Anglican Parish Church, Isanya Ogbo-Ijebu, Ogun State during the thanksgiving service held in commemoration of the 90th birthday celebration of the Afenifere chieftain.
He told newsmen that Pa Adebanjo’s voice remains the only voice that keeps echoing from time to time.
He said: “I am here to celebrate the life of one of our fathers in Yorubaland.
“Baba’s life cuts a picture of a true disciple of the late sage, the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
“As an Awoist, Pa Adebanjo has been a strong advocate of restructuring and true federalism.
“At 90, he is still a bastion of hope to young Nigerians who believe in his ideology of true federalism.
“The Afenifere chieftains have in the 60s had his own fair share of the political tribulations, serving various jail terms in Accra, Ghana and Kirikiri, Nigeria, particularly under the maximum ruler, the late Sani Abacha, during the National Democratic Coalition days.
“Therefore, as Baba celebrates another milestone, I wish him many more years with good health in the service of humanity.”
