Kinsmen of a former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in the forthcoming Adamawa State governorship election, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, have endorsed another contender in the race.
Ribadu’s kinsmen on Friday endorsed Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Modibbo, a former Executive Secretary of Universal Basic Education Commission, who is also contesting on the platform of the PDP.
Modibbo’s endorsement came during his consultation meeting with party stakeholders in Yola South Local Government Area at Makama Ward B, where various speakers eulogized his electoral values.
The Chairman of the PDP in the council, Usman Bala Kuruma, who spoke on behalf of his kinsmen, described Mobiddo as one of the best aspirants to have emerged from Yola Central Senatorial District of the party.
The venue of the event, which is along Lamido Street of Yola town, is where Ribadu’s family house is located.
Bala extolled Modibbo as a father, a brother and a true son of Adamawa State, who is needed to take over the seat of power in the state through popular votes come October 11, 2015.
He also disclosed how the former UBEC boss had always associated with the PDP in Adamawa State, adding that it was now time to back his governorship ambition.
According to him, Modibbo took the right step by starting his consultation from the ward level, a development he described as a recognition of Adamawa State voters.
Bala said: “Dr. Madibbo is our son, our father and brother.
“He has always supported his community, the party and Adamawa at every given point.
“So to us, it is a payback time for him.
“He has taken the right step by first coming to meet us and we are elated by his decision of recognising that power belongs to the people.”
Friday’s endorsement precedes Saturday’s formal declaration of the former UBEC boss taking place at PDP’s state secretariat in Yola.
