The Adamawa State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caretaker Committee has fixed dates for its wards, local governments and state congresses.
While speaking to newsmen in Yola, the state capital, chairman of the party’s caretaker committee, Alhaji Umar Damagum, said that the NWC of the party had approved Dec. 27 2012 through Jan. 10, 2013 for the conduct of the congresses.
According to Damagun, the development has been transmitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and he showed samples of the nomination forms for the congress to newsmen, saying that membership cards are readily available for any person that wants to join the party and even those who left the party and wish to return.
Damagun said the state’s stakeholders should join hands in order to save the party in the state, a situation he described as “a crusade to save the party in the state.’’
Meanwhile incensed youths on Saturday set a bonfire in front of the party Secretariat on Saturday trying to attack the PDP Secretariat in the state when the party’s Caretaker Committee was holding a meeting, a situation that was rescued by the Police.
Damagun, who is leader of the Committee, condemned the act of the youths as he also said they were paid to frustrate the committee.
“We are here to work and no amount of intimidation will deter us from executing our mandate’’, Damagun said.
