No fewer than seven children have been confirmed dead in the bomb explosion that rocked Yola, the Adamawa State capital, in the early hours of Friday.
The explosion, which hit an Internally Displaced Persons Camp, also left 10 persons injured.
According to the Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the Adamawa State Governor, Jubrilla Bindow, confirmed the casualty figures to his Northern States colleagues.
El-Rufai wrote on his Facebook page: “The Governor of Adamawa just informed the Northern States Governors’ Forum that an explosion took place in an IDP camp in Yola killing seven children and injuring ten persons. May Allah grant repose to their souls and provide doc our to the people of Adamawa and Nigerians at large. May Allah expose these heartless criminals, Amen.”
The National Emergency Management Agency had earlier announced the explosion via its twitter handle, @nemanigeria.
