The hope of a suspended lawmaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Abubakar Abdulrahman (APC-Mubi South), to return to the House was on Wednesday dashed.
Abdulrahman has been asked to stay away from the house for now.
This decision is coming after the three months suspension slammed on him expired.
The lawmakers who deliberated on the expiration of the suspension of Abdulrahman, told him to stay off from the House pending the determination of the cases he instituted against the Assembly.
Abdulrahman instituted two cases against the House before a Yola High Court challenging his suspension.
February 18 has been fixed for judgement in one of the cases.
The chairman of the House Committee on Information, Hon. Hassan Barguma, told newsmen that though the suspension slammed on Abdulrahman had lapsed, he would not be allowed to return since he has a case against the House in court that must be determined.
Barguma said: “He took us to court.
“He took us to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
“Status quo has to be maintained until the determination of the cases.”
Barguma, however, noted that if Abdulrahman withdrew his court cases against the House and apologized, the House would consider accepting him back.
Commenting on the development, Abdulrahman said the House was not fair to him for taking that position.
He added that the House does not need to call him to return to sitting as it is his right to return to perform his normal legislative duties.
He said the House also does not have the right to discuss the case he instituted against it at the plenary.
The embattled member said he will return to sitting any moment from now as his three months suspension has ended and his decision to go to court was to determine whether his three months suspension was proper.
