The Acting Governor of Adamawa State, Alhaji Ahmadu Fintiri, on Friday picked expression of interest form to contest for the October 11 governorship by-election in the state.
Fintri, who confirmed this to newsmen in Yola, the state capital, said he decided to pick the form to contest on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party based on popular demand.
He said: “The voice of the people is the voice of God and I have no option than to succumb to the sustained pressure by the people of Adamawa to join the race.
“I am a grassroots politician who has been in touch with the people since I joined politics and all my actions have been guided by the people.”
Fintiri described his modest achievements in one month as one of the major factors that endeared him to the people of Adamawa State.
The acting governor said that within that short period, he was able to give the people a sense of belonging.
The state Secretary of the PDP, Shehu Tahir, said he was not aware of the development.
Tahir, however, said that Fintiri had the constitutional right to vie for the exalted office if he so wishes.
