The Publicity Secretary of the Action Congress of Nigeria in Rivers State, Jerry Needam, has quit the party.
Needam said in a statement in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, that his resignation took effect from Monday.
He said: “From today, Monday, June 10, 2013, I cease to be a member of the Action Congress of Nigeria.
“By my resignation from the party, I also cease to be the Publicity Secretary of the ACN, Rivers chapter.”
Needam said that he quit because of attempts to use the Acting State Chairman of the party to desecrate the principles of the party.
He said: “Besides giving my reasons for resigning, my membership of the ACN on principle, I wish to note that the resignation of our state leader, Dr. Abiye Sekibo, whose view and ideologies I share in, also contributed to my action.
