No fewer than two soldiers have been confirmed dead when a grenade accidentally discharged from one of the security operatives at the residence of the Governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Ibrahim Dankwambo.
Available information as at press time had it that the impact of the explosion destroyed the Armoured Personnel Carrier stationed at the residence of the governor.
The incident occurred at about 6pm.
The initial reaction was that it was an attack by dreaded sect, Boko Haram.
The explosion left two other soldiers injured.
The Gombe State Commissioner for Information, Abu Dawaki, confirmed the development.
Dawaki equally said that contrary to initial information, the explosion occurred at the governor’s residence and not the Government House.
