The Kwara State Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Barrister Anthony Kayode Towoju, has charged Kwarans to continue to support ABS FC and Kwara United in their quest to do the state proud in the Premier League.
While delivering his address during the unveiling of the PUMA partnership with ABS FC at the Conference Room of the Kwara State Stadium Complex on Friday, Towoju said that the Kwara State Government will continue to provide the enabling environment for the two clubs and other clubs in the state to achieve greater heights.
He commended PUMA for identifying with ABS FC, even as he charged them to assist the club further.
He also commended the management of the club for embracing professionalism in their dealings.
In his own speech, the acting Chairman of the only privately owned club in the NPL, Abdul Adama, who was represented by the Team Manager of the club, Alloy Chukwuemeka, said that the unveiling of PUMA as kits partner of ABS FC reveals one of the numerous links and opportunities that are open to the club, to enhance the dream of making it one of the best clubs in Africa.
He stressed that the vision of the owners of the club was to re-brand it and to make it a shining example for other clubs in the league, as the management is working towards making the club a purely professional club.
Adama said that apart from the multimillion naira kits that was provided by PUMA to ABS FC, the proprietor has also provided a brand new 32-seater bus, a club house, as well as a befitting accommodation for the coaches.
He added that the club now has facebook and twitter accounts for its fans and supporters as a way of opening the club up to the public.
The representative of PUMA, Chuka Okoye, said that the unveiling of the partnership with ABS FC is a true statement of the company’s support for the team, adding that the partnership will further assist ABS FC to do well in the league.
Okoye, who said Senator Bukola Saraki and Mr. Tayo Amusan facilitated the partnership, noted that the partnership was the beginning of a strategic synergy between ABS FC and PUMA.
Meanwhile, ABS FC launched the kit with state FA Cup semi-final match against Kwara Football Academy, which they won to qualify for the final.
ABS FC will now play either Kwara United or Olutayo FC in the final of the FA Cup next month.
