Abia Warriors’ goalkeeper, Vincent Edafe, has set his sight on getting a call up to the Super Eagles.
This is just as he looks forward to helping his club achieve top finish this season in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
Edafe, who has been described as one of the bright prospects in the Nigerian league, is aiming to finish the league season on a high with Abia Warriors and hoping that the appointment of an indigenous coach will mean more invitations for the local lads.
“I am hoping that at the end of the current campaign, Abia Warriors will finish in a respectable position and we are very much on course in achieving that,” he said.
“With a few points away and by consolidating on our home form, I am confident that we will finish in a respectable position on the log.”
Asked about his expectations for a call up to the Super Eagles, the product of J Atete FC, who is one of the few goalkeepers in the league comfortable with playing with his foot, said he, like every other NPFL League player, is hoping that the appointment of Coach Austin Eguavoen, who himself a product of the league and who is more in touch with the league, will mean more invitations for home-based lads.
He added: “I am very optimistic that with the appointment of Coach Eguavoen, a lot of us home-based lads will get invitations to the National Team.
“I just have to keep doing my best like every other NPFL League player and I believe soon enough invitations will be extended to us.”
