Olufunke Olatubore, the 78-year-old mother of a former Ondo State Commissioner of Education, Remi Olatubore, was released by her abductors on Thursday.
The victim was kidnapped in her home in Iyansan, Irele Local Government Area, at about 1am on Sunday.
But confirming her release in an interview with NAN, the elder brother of the former commissioner, Chief Benjamin Olatubore, said the victim was picked up around 3am on Thursday.
He said the kidnappers dropped her at Ita Oqua, a small community between Iyansan and Akotogbo in Irele Local Government Area of the state.
He said: “To God be the glory and profound gratitude to the security operatives in Ondo State for securing the release of our mother under a short period of time.
“I also want to say that this is the shortest period for securing the release of a kidnapped person even without paying a dime.”
Also speaking with NAN, the spokesman of the Ondo Police Command, ASP Wole Ogodo, confirmed the development.
