We’ll provide enabling environment for investors – Aliyu

The Niger State Government on Saturday promised to provide the enabling environment for private sector to invest in the state, urging them to utilise the opportunity to do business in the state.
Governor Babangida Aliyu, who made this known in Minna, said that part of the steps already taken to woo investors to the state is the acceleration of the period for the issuance of Certificate of Occupancy for land meant for industrial purposes as well as the provision of social amenities in industrial layouts set up across the state.
Aliyu, who spoke at the commissioning of LAWU Estate in the state capital, established by a private concern, said the administration was aware that government alone cannot provide all the needs of the people, hence the need to encourage the private sector to compliment the efforts of government.
He said: “We welcome partnership with the private sector.
“We have realized that government alone cannot meet all the needs of the people.
“This is the only way we can get the best for our people and the society.”
Aliyu specifically called on housing developers to “leverage on the favourable investment climate and incentives in Niger State, especially in land and housing sub sector where we are putting in place institutional structures to transform housing development in the state”.
Aliyu, who said that the state government is currently building over 3,000 housing units, some of which have been commissioned, urged the private sector to “take advantage of the services of the Niger State Geographic Information System, the Public Private Partnership Agency and the Niger state One-Stop Investment Centre in this regard”.
The governor said that more efforts will be put to the development of Minna, the state capital, so that it will compare favourably with other state capitals in the country and become the “most liveable city in Nigeria”.
He added: “I want Minna to be the centre of Nigeria and the most liveable city in the country.
“Government will continue to develop Minna because it is the state capital.
“I hope that those who will take over from us will continue the policy.”
Aliyu commended the management of Lawu Estate for investing in the state and urged those that will build houses in the estate to ensure they obtain relevant government clearance for such buildings.
The General Manager of the Niger State Geographic Information System, Dr. Abdul Hussaini, promised that all those that purchase plots of land in the estate will be given their Certificates of Occupancy within three weeks.
The Managing Director of Urban Shelter Nigeria Limited, Alhaji Nagogo Aliyu, disclosed that the organization will establish more estates within the state to compliment the efforts of the government in the area of provision of houses for all category of people.
LAWU Estate has over 230 residential plots and commercial area for shopping mall and other commercial ventures that will service not only the occupants of the estate but other interested members of the public.
