The Mai’adua Local Council in Katsina State said on Thursday that it had settled the N6.7 million land compensation for land acquired to construct a school in President Muhammadu Buhari’s village.
Alhaji Sade Zango, the Acting Chairman of the Council, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Mai’adua.
Zango said 23 owners of the 300-meter plot of land received the compensation.
The acting council chairman explained that the land was used for the establishment of a junior secondary school in Dumurkol village to increase access to education and decongest existing secondary schools in the area.
Zango commended the land owners for their peaceful nature, show of patriotism and love for education, assuring that the local council would provide more developmental projects to the area.
One of the beneficiaries, Malam Hafiz Dumurkol, described the building of an additional school in the village as a welcome development.
Dumurkol said the new secondary school would add value to the community where Buhari hails from.
NAN reports that the Government Day Junior Secondary School, Dumurkol, established in 2017, has since commenced academic activities.
