World Bank earmarks $60m to construct access roads to farms in Kano State

The World Bank has set aside over $60 million to construct access roads to farms in Kano State.

This was disclosed by Ubandoma Ularamu, the National Coordinator, Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Projects.

Ularamu made the statement on Wednesday in Kano when he led a delegation from the World Bank and African Development Bank to inspect farms that would benefit from the intervention.

He said the intervention was meant to provide rural farmers with access roads to convey their goods to markets in and outside Nigeria.

He said: “Kano State is one of the northern states with large numbers of farmers who produce different varieties of food for sale in Nigeria and outside the county.

“The World Bank sees the need to provide access roads to enable farmers in the state convey their goods from the farms to the markets.”

The coordinator gave an assurance that the project would commence soon and would be completed during the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The delegation also visited the International Greens Market (aka Dawanau Market) located in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area.
