A total of 87 people fell ill from suspected food poisoning in Wushan, a county in southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality, local authorities said on Monday.
The authorities said the sick were immediately taken to hospital, adding that as at 11 a.m. on Monday, 35 people were allowed to go home and 52 others were still hospitalised, none of them with life-threatening illness.
Meanwhile, authorities in Wushan detained people related to the incident and taken food samples for further lab work.
