No fewer than 74 people were killed, 15 injured and 1,429 cows stolen during the recent attack by gunmen in Zamfara State.
The attack took place in Mada, Wonaka and Ruwan Bore districts of Gusau Local Government Area of the state.
The Special Adviser to Governor Abdulazeez Yari on Emergency Management, Alhaji Musa Kwatarkwashi, said this known in Mada while donating N1.5 million and 200 bags of assorted grains to the families of the victims.
Kwatarkwashi said out of the amount, N1 million came from Alhaji Kabir Marafa, the Senator representing Zamfara Central, while N500,000 and 200 bags of grains were donated by Alhaji Muhammadu Ruwandoruwa.
According to him, 43 communities were attacked by the gunmen, while 28 camels, 1,480 sheep, 112 motorcycles, 50 cell phones and about N2 million were carted away by the hoodlums.
The Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency, Alhaji Atiku Maradun, commended the donors for the gesture.
Maradun said the state government had already mobilised more security personnel to the area to restore peace.
He urged the people of the area to remain calm and continue to pray for peace and stability in the country.
The acting Chairman of Gusau Local Government Council, Alhaji Tukur Kwaccido, also thanked the donors and called on wealthy individuals to emulate them.
More than 8,000 people were displaced as a result of the attack.
